LG supplies the panels for the Apple Pro Display XDR
26 Junio 2019, 01:10:25

The Pro Display XDR is the first all-Apple monitor after the manufacturer seized making its own monitors in 2016. It has been announced on June 3rd and is priced at USD 4,999. Almost one-third of this price is formed by the price of LG's panel which costs USD 1,500. The 32-inch 6K (6016 x 3384) LCD panel has 576 mini LED backlights comprising the 2D backlight system to achieve a higher contrast ratio and higher brightness than conventionally backlit LCD panels. The contrast ratio achieved with the HDR mode on is 1000000:1. The typical brightness is 500 cd/m2 while the peak brightness is 1600 cd/m2.
Actually, Apple has been selling rebranded monitors from LG's UltraFine line for quite some time. LG will also supply the panels for NVIDIA's G-Sync Monitor, which is created together with Asus and Acer. This monitor will have a 27-inch 4K display panel with the same number of mini LEDs as the Apple monitor - 576.Origen
