Add DisplaySpecifications as a preferred source on GoogleTCL has introduced the TCL P8L series on its global website, positioning it as a premium QLED lineup available in sizes from 55 to 98 inches. The series combines QD‑Mini LED dimming with TCL's All‑domain Halo Control Technology, a pairing designed to tackle one of the biggest limitations of LED displays: delivering OLED‑class contrast without compromising brightness. The flagship 98P8L differs from the smaller models by using a more advanced panel and joining TCL's "Precise Dimming Series," offering 512 local dimming zones.
At the core of the All‑domain Halo Control Technology is TCL's upgraded HVA panel, which uses nanoscale film‑layer engineering to form a butterfly‑wing‑shaped liquid‑crystal microstructure. This configuration enables more precise light control, boosting native contrast up to 6500:1. The panel supports over a billion colors, covers 93% of the DCI‑P3 gamut, and improves overall material stability.
TCL's QLED layer uses an enhanced Colorful Quantum Crystals material with a more stable alloy structure for a longer lifespan. High‑precision wrapping technology co‑polymerizes nanoscale quantum materials with organic layers, improving optical performance and color accuracy. Combined with TCL's bionic color optimization, the P8L series aims to deliver richer, more consistent color reproduction.
Furthermore, P8L's ground-breaking High-energy Light-emitting Chip significantly improves brightness and energy efficiency, reproducing natural bright and dark scenes with clarity. The Optical Refractive Lens can greatly enhance the spotlight effect and improve halo control for clearer screen details. The Transient response technology can prevent dark shadows, bright spots, and trailing caused by backlight lag in motion pictures. It makes the motion picture sharper and enhances your viewing experience.
Powered by 22-bit backlight technology, precise control ensures smooth brightness levels and color gradients, delivering lifelike visuals with no banding. Finally, the Dynamic Lighting Bionic Algorithm delivers more realistic lighting effects of streaming media resources.
A standout specification is the 144Hz native refresh rate, with support for 288Hz Game Accelerator via HDMI. This positions the P8L as a strong option for gamers using next‑gen consoles or high‑frame‑rate PCs, offering reduced tearing, smoother motion, and lower latency. All models from the TCL P8L series are AMD FreeSync certified.
The TCL P8L series integrates an ONKYO 2.1 Hi‑Fi system, comprising two 10W speakers and a 20W subwoofer on the 98" and the 85" models, and two 10W speakers and a 5W subwoofer on the other three. Support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X aims to deliver a more immersive soundstage without requiring external speakers.
TCL AI has developed a robust underlying hardware capability through independent research and development. It has created a quantum supercomputing platform that integrates a variety of self-developed professional models and has built an industry-leading Mariana database. This enables continuous deep learning and evolution of the TCL AI model. In addition, TCL AI deeply integrates many AI capabilities and has a large number of powerful scenario-based intelligent agents. It provides you with a smarter and more convenient audio-visual entertainment experience across four dimensions: AI image quality, AI sound quality, AI interaction, and AI content generation. The TCL AI features are powered by the AiPQ Pro processor.
The TCL P8L series ships with Google TV with Google Assistant built-in and supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. The connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports, two HDMI 2.0 ports, a LAN port, an optical audio out, a USB port, a headphone jack, a CI+ slot, an AV input in a 3.5 mm jack, a satellite input, and an antenna (RF) input.
