Huawei will enter the TV market later this yearDifferent Chinese media report that according to many industry insiders, Huawei will enter the TV market later this year. This move on Huawei's part has been circulating the industry for a long time. One of the consultants on channel construction and TV product marketing contacted by Huawei has mentioned that Honor (Huawei's sub-brand for smartphones shipped mainly in China) is expected to launch a TV model in April or May this year. A Huawei-branded TV will be launched in the second half of this year. Both brands will have the same TV differences as they have on smartphones. The Honor TVs will be more focused on online channels, while Huawei TVs will be positioned in the higher-end tier, starting from the 65-inch size class, and will combine 5G technology to promote 4K and 8K high-quality content. Creating a smart TV is a milestone for Huawei in deploying its smart life ecosystem strategy for future connected smart homes. On mainland China, the most direct competition for Huawei not only in the TV realm but also in the smart home one will come from Xiaomi, which has been already operating in the market for quite some time and has already created a solid customer and fan base. Huawei's advantages are its in-house developed HiSilicon chipsets and 5G technology, which has a complete solution for set-top boxes and 4K/8K HD content. It is reported that the current Huawei TV team has 200-300 people, and TV research and development is placed under the management of the IoT department. It is expected that Huawei will cooperate with BOE on supplying display panels for its TVs.Источник
