4K OnePlus QLED TV coming this September, will be a "premium product", Pete Lau says

4K OnePlus QLED TV coming this September, will be a "premium product", Pete Lau saysIn an interview with Business Insider, Pete Lau, OnePlus co-founder and CEO, says that the OnePlus TV will be introduced this September and that it will be a premium product. In a typical OnePus fashion - listening to fans, getting lots of feedback and harnessing it into creating new and improved products, Pete Lau said that based on lots of feedback in the context of smart TVs the most basic and yet hard to achieve feature in such a product are the image and sound quality.

Interestingly enough, Pete Lau also unveils some details about the TV. True to the company's slogan "Never Settle", OnePlus has benchmarked against "the best of the best" in TVs and unveiled that the upcoming OnePlus TV will feature a 4K QLED panel, which makes Samsung the most likely supplier of display panels for this product. The price will match the premium quality of the TV but won't be as high as the price of high-end OLED TVs.

As long as it concerns software, Pete Lau said the OnePlus TV will run on a customized and optimized version of Google's Android TV platform to achieve deep integration for optimum user experience. OnePlus's UI Oxygen OS/Hydrogen OS for OnePlus smartphones is one of the best Android integrations on a market-available device. It is extremely fast, intuitive, and clean. You get an almost vanilla Android experience that's streamlined and aided by smart customizations. If the company achieves this in the UI for smart TV this will be a breakthrough as most already established brands fail to do that. The only hint in the TV context provided by Pete Lau is that the OnePlus TV will display content in a different way and will show you the content you like and want to see. OnePlus will also focus on connectivity between smartphones and TVs.

"The OnePlus TV will be launched in India first, with the EU, US, and China launches coming later."Origen
