LG Display will launch four-stack WOLED panels and Samsung Display - five-stack QD-OLED panelsLG Display will commence manufacturing WOLED display panels with a four-stack structure this year in its Guangzhou factory. Up to now, the company's WOLED panels had a three-stack structure. Adding one more layer increases brightness. LG Display uses MLA and MLA+ technologies with deuterium to improve the brightness of its three-stack panels, but the MLA technology will not be used in four-stack WOLED panels. The new technology will be applied to LG G5 and LG M5 OLED TVs first. LG claims the new G5 delivers 40% higher full-screen brightness over last year's G4. It has Blue-Green-Blue-Red structure, while three-stack panels have Blue-GreenYellowGreenRed-Blue structure.

Meanwhile, Samsung Display plans to launch a five-stack QD-OLED panel this year. It is expected to power 27-inch QD-OLED monitors marking a 4th generation of QD-OLED panels for monitors. MSI has already shared its plans to use it for some of its models. The four-stack QD-OLED panels have Blue-Blue-Green-Blue structure. The five-stack panels will add a green layer on top for increased brightness.
