The Philips 27M4N8500V was announced together with the Philips 27M4N8800 and just like its sibling, it features Ambiglow X and Iconglow ambient lighting along with the same design, form factor, connectivity, and ergonomic options.
Ergonomics include 130 mm of height adjustment, -5 to 20 degrees of tilt, ±35 degrees of swivel, and ±90 degrees of pivot. Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub with USB‑B uplink, USB‑C downlink with 15W fast charging, and two USB‑A ports. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is also on board, along with two 5W speakers with THX tuning.
Comfort and efficiency features include flicker‑free operation, low‑blue‑light software, EasyRead mode, and a full suite of PowerSensor technologies capable of detecting presence, ambient light, brightness levels, and color temperature. These sensors help reduce power consumption and maintain consistent viewing comfort. The monitor also features MultiView PBP/PIP for multi‑source workflows, and Evnia Precision Center software for control. A five‑way joystick provides quick access to power, menus, input switching, game modes, and SmartImage presets.
The main difference between the Philips 27M4N8500V and the Philips 27M4N8800 is the display panel. The Philips 27M4N8500V uses 3rd‑generation QD-OLED panel technology with EL Gen 2 emissive material and a triangular RGB sub‑pixel layout with quadrilateral‑shaped sub‑pixels. The display operates at a QHD resolution and reaches a high refresh rate of 360Hz over both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4.
Brightness hits 250 nits in SDR at full‑screen APL, 450 nits in HDR at 10% APL, and up to 1000 nits peak at 3% APL. Combined with a typical contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1 and theoretically infinite dynamic contrast, the monitor delivers the deep blacks and high‑impact highlights expected from QD‑OLED technology. It carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and supports HDR hue mapping and HDR10+. Color performance is one of the model's strongest attributes. Coverage reaches 100% sRGB, 99% DCI‑P3, and 98% Adobe RGB (CIE 1976), making the display suitable for creators who need wide‑gamut accuracy.
Motion clarity is driven by a 0.03 ms gray‑to‑gray response time and Adaptive Sync support. The monitor earns a ClearMR 13000 rating, placing it among the highest‑clarity OLED gaming displays currently available. SmartImage Game Mode, low‑input‑lag toggles, dark‑scene enhancement, Smart Crosshair, and a sniper window round out the gaming‑oriented features, though several advanced modes—such as racing assistants, night‑vision enhancement, and Smart Game Scenario—are not supported on this model.
