LeEco acquires Vizio for USD 2 billion

Last night LeEco (former LeTV) and Vizio announced at a special event that China-based LeEco acquires Vizio for $2B. The hardware and software businesses of Vizio will be in the form of a wholly owned subsidiary of LeEco, while the data business (Inscape) will be separated in a privately owned company. This deal is a major step for LeEco to enter the North American market after doing so with its LeEco smartphones and its cooperation with Aston Martin in the car technologies segment. At the same time Vizio is the #1 unit share in smart TVs and sound bars in the US market and through LeEco it will have access to the latest technologies and innovations in the field. Its executive management team will remain in place and will continue its operations as an independent subsidiary from the current headquarters in Irvine, CA. The company will continue using its well-established and recognizable brand as well as its existing distribution channels and customer service centers.
