Samsung has completed its 2023 QN990C series of Neo QLED 8K TVs with the 98" model. For starters, it will be launched in South Korea and other markets will follow. In the USA, the model should be named Samsung QN98QN990C and in Europe there are several names, depending on the market: Samsung QE98QN990C, Samsung TQ98QN990C, and Samsung GQ98QN990C.
. In South Korea, the model is named Samsung KQ98QNC990. In comparison to the other models from the series, the 98" QN900C Neo QLED 8K TV has an improved audio department with a 120W power output and a 6.4.4 CH speaker array. The audio features include AI Sound, Object Tracking Sound Pro, SpaceFit Sound, Adaptive Sound Pro, Q-Symphony 3.0, Active Voice Amplifier, Dolby Atmos, and Multiroom Link. The connectivity options include four HDMI 2.1 ports, a LAN port, three USB 2.0 ports, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, optical audio out, and a port for One Connect Box.
The Samsung QN990C Neo QLED 8K inherits the Infinity Screen and Ultra Slim design from last year's QN900B series. Only the color has been changed to Titan Black. All three models have 8K displays with a 144Hz refresh rate and Mini LED backlights combined with Quantum Matrix Technology Pro. This allows for finer black-white control, increased contrast, enhanced color levels (to 14-bit), and reduced/eliminated blooming. The displays are HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+ Gaming, and HLG certified. Most probably, the series uses VA panels but we will wait for more information on that.
The QN990C series is based on Samsung's Neural Quantum Processor 8K. It is paired with Neo Quantum HDR 8K Pro offering smarter HDR processing and including Samsung's newest feature - Auto HDR Remastering which optimizes standard content to elevate the viewing experience. Further image-optimizing features include Real Depth Enhancer Pro, Ultimate 8K Dimming Pro, Adaptive Picture, Expert and Smart Calibration, 8K AI Upscaling, Ambient Mode+, Auto Motion Plus, and Brightness/Color Detection.
In terms of gaming, Motion Xcelerator Turbo Pro creates consistently crisp 4K visuals at blazing-fast speeds up to 120Hz, and Game Motion Plus goes up to 144Hz with compatible PC-connected content. The TVs support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync. Samsung Gaming Hub, Super Ultrawide GameView & Game Bar 3.0, Dynamic Black EQ, and Game Motion Plus are also on board. Light Sync, Telemedicine - HealthTap, and NFT (Nifty Gateway, La Collection, Art Token, Savage) are some of the additional features introduced for the first time this year.
