LG's α9 Gen 2 and ThinQ AI will power the 2019 LG OLED TV and the premium LG NanoCell TVs (LCD)A week before the CES 2019 launches in Las Vegas, LG announces its latest flagship TVs with ThinQ AI, which it will showcase next week. They will be powered by LG's second-generation α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 intelligent processor and deep learning algorithm for improved AI, which will deliver enhanced picture and sound quality. They will also arrive with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The 2019 LG OLED TV lineup will include models from the Z9, W9, E9 and C9 series, which include the premium 8K 88-inch Z9 OLED TV with 8K upscaling and improved noise reduction. In addition to content source detection, the α9 Gen 2 processor offers fine tuning of the tone mapping curve for improved brightness and refining of HDR and Dolby Vision content for improved visual experience under varying ambient light. In terms of sound, AI can up-mix two-channel audio to deliver convincing virtual 5.1 surround sound. The TVs will also deliver optimized sound depending on the type of content. You can either let your TV intelligent adjust the sound settings or you can control them yourself. The α9 Gen 2 and ThnQ AI also power the 75-inch 75-inch 8K LCD TV (model SM99) and the rest of LG's 2019 premium LCD TVs (SM9X and SM8X series), which will be rebranded to NanoCell TV because of the nanocell technology for improved colour accuracy and ultra-narrow thin bezels.
