LG's first 8K OLED TV (88Z9) starts selling in South KoreaLG announced that its first 8K OLED TV - the 88-inch OLED88Z9K - starts selling in South Korea. Select markets in North America and Europe will get it in Q3 of 2019 (July). In Korea, it will be available in major stores. The TV will be on pre-sale for a month at a special price of KRW 40 mln (USD 33,860). After that, the price will be back to the normal KRW 50 mln (USD 42,312).

LG OLED88Z9Kemploys an advanced OLED panel with over 33 million self-emitting pixels and an 8K Ultra HD resolution (7,680 x 4,320). Processing power relies on LG's α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 8K intelligent processor with deep learning technology that allows it to optimize content by recognizing source quality and implementing the best algorithm for a quality end result. It supports effective 8K upscaling and improved noise reduction to 6-steps from 4-steps in the 4K version. The processor also analyzes ambient light conditions to achieve a suitable level of screen brightness. Deep learning algorithms also improve audio being capable of up-mixing two-channel audio to deliver virtual 5.1 surround sound. It also improves audio output by analyzing source content to produce enhanced sound effects depending on the content (sports, movies, musical shows, etc.).

LG OLED88Z9K supports Dolby Vision and advanced HDR, Dolby Atmos, automatic low latency mode (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR) and enhanced audio return channel (eARC). In some markets, it will offer built-in versions of both the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
