Xiaomi is the top TV vendor in China for 2019

Xiaomi is the top TV vendor in China for 2019At the end of December 2019, Jiang Cong, general manager of sales and operation of Xiaomi, said on Weibo that Xiaomi has completed its goal of 10 million TV units sold in China in 2019 ahead of the deadline. This is a new milestone in the history of Chinese TV. It broke the historical record of 9.66 million units sold, which was set by Hisense in 2016. Moreover, this pushed Xiaomi as the number one TV vendor in China surpassing established TV manufacturers such as TCL, Changhong, Konka, SKyworth, Hisense.

The first Xiaomi TV was released in 2013 and in six years, similar to its smartphone business, the brand's TV division has reached top positions. The company has always managed to make the best out of each market at the exact time the market is in its high. Xiaomi gained worldwide recognition when the smartphone market was one of the most popular ones. It did the same with TVs. It entered the market in 2013 which was the beginning of a market high for smart TVs in China. Especially ones that offer compelling price/quality ratio. Xiaomi has always been good at offering this at impressive levels even admitting it's been keeping profit margins low. Lei Jun's promise is that Xiaomi sticks to a 5% net profit margin. This is mainly possible via lower operating costs and profitability through software and Internet services.

Xiaomi has always positioned its self as an internet/IoT company helping it build its brand around the idea of selling products with ultimate design and user experience. And this is exactly the "short board" of traditional TV manufacturers. In addition to great design, features and specs for a low price, Xiaomi also offers monthly OS updates to constantly improve the user experience. Its MIUI user interface based on Android is very mature and has piled many years on the market first on smartphones and then on TVs. This means that Xiaomi TVs can offer richer content, better interactive experience, and a more intelligent system.

In September 2016, Xiaomi released the PatchWall system and fully deployed it on its TVs. In terms of UI design, the PatchWall system uses a unique magazine-like appearance and waterfall-like content presentation method. The waterfall stream generated by PatchWall can sort and organize massive content according to the differences in user preferences and function types, and then push them to users from top to bottom in order. At the same time, PatchWall's deep semantic understanding algorithm can take users' operating habits and viewing preferences as samples for long-term repeated deep learning; coupled with the continuous enrichment and knowledge of the "micro-tag" system "Graphics" video library construction, PatchWall system's semantic understanding ability, execution ability is also constantly improved.

Xiaomi has already established itself as a leading AIoT company and its TVs are an integral part of its ecosystem. They are a powerful home Internet of Things terminal, which can control the Xiaomi smart home equipment of the whole family, and synchronize perfectly with the mobile phone and computer. From rice cookers, lamps, smart plugs, to air conditioners, water purifiers, washing machines ... Just a few words and everything is done. Undoubtedly, with the advent of the 5G era, AIoT will have more room for growth.

Therefore, Xiaomi TV relies on excellent system design capabilities, artificial intelligence technology and AIoT to create a beautiful, intelligent, and humanized TV watching experience. Xiaomi is not selling displays, it sells a smart home lifestyle.
